Sean Connery: In His Own Words

BBC2, 8pm

-

He's been voted the sexiest man alive twice, has a knighthood, has been named the greatest living Scot, was recently declared to be the best-ever James Bond actor and, in 1988, won an Oscar for his supporting role in gangster movie The Untouchables.

Now Sir Sean Connery (right) has another reason to celebrate – next Tuesday is his 90th birthday. As he retired from the big screen in 2012 and has rarely been seen in public since, we have no idea how he's going to mark the event, but the Beeb is doing so by dedicating several hours of the BBC2 schedule to the much-loved star.

First up is another chance to see this documentary, which was originally broadcast on his 85th birthday and features not only archive interviews with Connery, but also the opinions of some of his friends and co-stars. It's followed by a showing of his film Entrapment at 9pm. ★★★★☆
