Barisic shuts down talk of a big transfer from Rangers

By Fraser Mackie BORNA BARISIC has promised that the latest spate of transfer interest in him will not affect his Rangers focus as he shut down talk on the prospect of leaving Ibrox.

His manager, Steven Gerrard, stressed on Friday that it would take a ridiculous offer for the club to even consider parting with the star left-back.

Even then, Barisic has told Gerrard of his contentmen­t in Glasgow and determinat­ion to be part of a winning Rangers team.

Rangers saw off a serious approach from Roma in January by extending the Croatian internatio­nal’s contract until 2024.

But his subsequent inspired form in Europa League and domestic action persuaded English Premier League newcomers Leeds United to plot a move.

Barisic’s take on that is to dismiss any interest because of his commitment to making a huge season for Rangers a successful one.

Gerrard admitted that striker Alfredo Morelos suffered by having his head turned towards bids from Lille recently.

Barisic, a stand-out and scorer in the midweek 3-0 victory over St Johnstone that maintained a 100-per-cent start to the title bid, insists there is no chance of him falling into the same trap.
