FRANTICALLY calling for help, a woman was lucky to escape from her car after driving into a massive flood yesterday.
The incident happened at Ingatestone, Essex, as Storm Alex lashed the south of England.
And the Met Office has warned Scots of flooding this morning after predicting heavy downpours overnight. Last night, the Scottish
Environment Protection Agency had 12 flood alerts and 11 flood warnings in place for northern and eastern communities.
Tom Morgan of the Met Office said Aberdeenshire had already endured 1.5in of rain by 3pm yesterday. He added: ‘There’s a lot more rain still to come. It takes a while for rivers to respond to heavy rainfall.’
As road conditions worsened, a biker was taken to hospital after a crash on the M90 at South Queensferry, West Lothian, and a boy needed treatment after being knocked down in Methil, Fife. A timber lorry also overturned on the A835 at the Black Isle, Inverness-shire.
