Stand up for jobs

-

Labour has called on the Scottish Government to stand up for jobs following the decision that turbines for the Seagreen offshore wind farm in the Firth of Forth would be manufactured abroad and built with foreign labour.

The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy disclosed that Scotland has 21,800 turbines – so why was this work not secured by the SNP for Scottish firms? They have had more than a decade to ensure that Scotland benefited from the wind turbine tsunami.

Instead, the turbines were manufactured in China, Denmark, Germany and Spain.

So much for Alex Salmond’s boast of Scotland becoming the Saudi Arabia of renewable energy.
