Beram rejected approaches from Scots clubs

-

FORMER Celtic midfielder Beram Kayal has revealed that he has knocked back more than one offer to return to Scottish football.

The Israeli is a free agent after reaching the end of his contract with Premier League side Brighton and is hoping to remain in the UK for family reasons.

‘I’m waiting for some offers,’ said the 32-year-old. ‘We’ve had a few offers, some from abroad, but I need to look out for my family and it’s not the right stage to do it.

‘A few things have come in from Scotland but we didn’t go far with that. I respect the people, so I don’t want to say which clubs. I need everything to be right. If it’s Celtic who come in, then I will be there tomorrow.’

Although Kayal remains on good terms with his former Parkhead boss Neil Lennon, a return to Glasgow is not on the cards. However, the midfielder’s options south of the border are likely to open up after tomorrow’s transfer deadline passes.

He added: ‘We’re in the last few days of the transfer window but I’m a free agent, so the market will be open for me past the deadline.

‘I’m ready for the next challenge. I’m still hungry, I’m only in my early 30s and I want to see what’s next.’
