HIGH TIME GOODWIN GOTSOME ANSWERS

-

ST MIRREN manager Jim Goodwin has good reason to be most miffed right now.

It is bad enough that his chief executive Tony Fitzpatrick seems to expect a top-six finish at the same time as he thinks it is acceptable to flog captain Kyle Magennis to Hibs — just days after the club released a statement about him not being up for sale.

The news of Kilmarnock’s game with Motherwell being called off because of a Covid-19 outbreak must have come close to tipping him over the edge.

The Scottish Government got involved in postponing games involving Celtic and Aberdeen because of past breaches. We’ll see what the SPFL investigation into Kilmarnock’s entire first-team squad being forced to self-isolate leads to.

Yet, it does look odd that

Saints had to draft in Bobby Zlamal and play games when their entire goalkeeping department went down with coronavirus and Hamilton had to play on when they had countless guys out.

There might be good reasons for all this, but it creates the impression protocols might need sharpened up a little.

Goodwin deserves answers at least. On both counts.
