KAMARAPROMISED BUMPER NEW DEAL

-

interested parties move for Alfredo Morelos.

He is also aiming to bring in a new midfielder, with Preston’s Daniel Johnson and Mo Besic of Everton having been strongly linked.

However, Gerrard has insisted there is no way he will allow Kamara, currently contracted until 2023, to walk out the door in the wake of a fine display in Thursday’s Europa League qualifying win over Turkish giants Galatasaray.

And he has already set the wheels in motion to reward the Finnish internationalist with an extended deal after the transfer window closes tomorrow.

‘Glen Kamara is not going anywhere,’ stated the Ibrox boss. ‘We are going to offer Glen a new contract when the time is right.

‘The plan was always to get this window out of the way before we spoke about that. Glen is aware of that.

‘We love Glen Kamara here. He is a fantastic player. We believe Glen is capable of playing for most teams out there at any level. He is that talented.

‘In terms of what we think

of Glen, we want him to stay and be part of this in the short and long term.

‘He was phenomenal on Thursday night.

‘He’s a player who will take the ball in any part of the pitch, no matter the scoreline or the crowd reaction — whether they’re with him or against him.

‘He takes responsibility and is playing with personality.

‘We’re absolutely delighted with Glen and he deserves a new deal, 100 per cent.

‘He won’t be going to Anderlecht. I guarantee you that.’

Gerrard insists that he is still battling to bring in one new face to his squad as the clock ticks down on the market closing.

‘We’re no further forward on that at the moment but we are actively trying,’ said the Rangers manager.

‘There’s probably a 50-50 chance either way whether it happens or not because this is not a case of just adding a number to cover and put someone in who can fill a squad position.

‘We’re only going to bring someone in if we feel they’re going to make the squad and the XI better.’
