-

THE full-time return of pupils to school may mean other lockdown restrictions will have to stay in place longer, health experts have warned.

They fear that with all children going back to class this week and next, there could be a spike in coronavirus infections.

Now scientists have told Ministers that if rates start to climb once more, they will advise delaying the re-opening of pubs and non-essential shops.

Informed sources say plans to let people travel outwith their council area could also be postponed to ensure children continue to be taught in person.

Last night one insider said there was ‘nervousness things might go into reverse again’.
