Gary Davies marked the fifth anniversary of the musician’s death in Friday’s Sounds Of The 80s, and now critic and broadcaster Ann Powers pays tribute by remembering an amazing evening she spent with him in 2008. Kristin Scott Thomas (above), who appeared in the Prince-directed Under The Cherry Moon, also contributes.

In Sound Of Cinema (Radio 3, 3pm) Matthew Sweet explores scores from films focusing on US immigration, including The Godfather and Minari.

New Music Show (Radio 3, 10pm) features a session by the Explore Ensemble and performances from Glasgow’s Counterflows festival.
