OLD FIRM FACE FUNERAL FIXTURE SWITCH

NEXT weekend’s Old Firm Scottish Cup tie could be rescheduled after Buckingham Palace announced the funeral of HRH Prince Philip will take place on Saturday afternoon.

The service will commence at 3pm, just an hour before Rangers are due to kick off against Celtic at Ibrox.

The SFA has confirmed that it has opened dialogue with clubs and broadcasters about the arrangements for the full fourth-round card, with five other ties currently scheduled to take place on Saturday afternoon.

An SFA statement said: ‘In light of confirmation that the funeral of HRH Prince Philip will take place next Saturday at 3pm, we have entered dialogue with the relevant stakeholders with regard to Scottish Cup fourth-round fixtures scheduled on that day. We will update participating clubs, supporters and partners in due course.’

In England, the EFL have announced that all 3pm kick-offs next Saturday will be moved, to played at times yet to be announced.
