Paul Weller At The Barbican
BBC2, 8.30pm
On May 15, the singer-songwriter (right) played his first live gig in two years at the Barbican in London. It was a careerspanning performance backed by the
BBC Symphony Orchestra, which played arrangements of his works by acclaimed conductor and composer Jules Buckley.
Those unable to attend now have a chance to see the concert, which takes viewers right back to Weller’s breakthrough years as the frontman of The Jam, before bringing them up to date with tracks from his new album Fat Pop (Volume 1). He’s also joined on stage by special guests Boy George, Celeste and James Morrison.
There’s more Modfather action at 10.30pm with another chance to see Weller At The BBC, a compilation of performances culled from the broadcaster’s archive. Among the highlights are duets with Noel Gallagher and Amy Winehouse. ★★★★★
