Moyes’ joy at new Hammers deal

- By Graham Swann

DAVID MOYES has expressed his delight after signing a new three-year deal at West Ham.

The Scot had been in discussions with the London club over extending his managerial contract following the conclusion of last season.

Moyes led the Hammers to a sixthplace finish in the Premier League and a club-record 65 points as they qualified for the Europa League.

The former Everton manager had been linked with a move back to Goodison Park following Carlo Ancelotti’s departure to Real Madrid.

But Moyes, who returned to West Ham in December 2019 after leaving the club 18 months earlier, will remain until the summer of 2024 at the earliest.

‘I am delighted to have committed my future to West Ham,’ said the 58-year-old. ‘This is where I want to be and I’m happy. I’m excited to be given this opportunity to build on what we all have already achieved.

‘The owners and I are fully aligned with how we want to keep developing and improving the club.

‘The board and everyone at West Ham have been fantastic to work with, giving me great support. I feel we’re all united in what we want to achieve in the coming years and how we might be able to do that.

‘We have made tremendous progress in the past 15 months and that has been a collective effort from everyone at the club.’ l TOTTENHAM have confirmed the appointment of Fabio Paratici as their managing director of football.

The 48-year-old, who recently left Juventus after a trophy-laden 11 years, does not officially start at Spurs until July 1, but is already involved in the club’s managerial search and has identified former Roma boss Paulo Fonseca as his first choice to replace the sacked Jose Mourinho.
