5.42pm Christian Eriksen jogs to receive a throw-in and suddenly collapses. Concerned players immediatel­y summon the physios and referee Anthony Taylor blows the whistle.

5.43pm Many players have their heads in hands, others are praying, more are in tears, as medical staff start performing CPR on the Inter Milan star. 5.48pm Denmark players put a cordon around the stricken former Spurs player before screens are put up.

5.51pm With players standing around, match referee

Taylor is in discussion with Denmark’s coach Kasper Hjulmand. Cameras pan to shellshock­ed Danish fans, many of whom are in tears.

5.54pm Devastated Finland players walk off the pitch.

6pm After 15 minutes of treatment, Eriksen is carried away on a stretcher — mercifully with his eyes open — and straight to the Rigshospit­al in Copenhagen.

6.25pm England cancel a media conference planned for London. 7.08pm UEFA put out a statement saying that following a request made by both sets of players, the match will be restarted at 7.30pm.
