England players hit by strict Mykonos curfew

- By Michael Powell

EVEN England’s Euro football players have found their holiday plans thrown into chaos after officials in Mykonos yesterday imposed a curfew and banned music in restaurants and bars.

Officials have ordered everyone on the Greek island to stay indoors between 1am and 6am after cases quadrupled to more than 300 in the past week alone.

Organisers of private parties of more than 20 people risk fines of up to 200,000 euros (£171,000) if they breach the rules.

The crackdown comes as several members of the team flew out there after England’s defeat to Italy in the final last Sunday.

Defender Kyle Walker this weekend was seen in a video waving his T-shirt over his head and singing along to Neil Diamond’s Sweet Caroline, the 1969 hit that became the unofficial anthem of Euro 2020.

The England team joined fans at Wembley in a rendition of the song following their victory over Denmark in the semi-final of the competition.

Walker was joined in the sing-along by midfielders Mason Mount and Declan Rice and full-back Luke Shaw. Other members of the squad, including Jack Grealish, Kalvin Phillips, Ben Chilwell and Ben White are also holidaying on Mykonos.

Among the other celebrities seen on the island in recent days are model Delilah Hamlin, reality star Amber Turner, actress Demi Moore and singer Nicole Scherzinger.
