A title chosen straight from the heart

-

RUTH Davidson’s new title is a special nod to her parents and her upbringing.

She was raised in Lundin Links, a small coastal village in Fife, from the age of five. It is known for its golf courses and long, sandy beaches.

Ms Davidson has frequently spoken about the importance of her loving upbringing, and of her parents, Douglas and Liz, who featured, along with her partner Jen, in a 2015 election broadcast, partly filmed in their kitchen.

She said: ‘I will be Baroness Davidson of Lundin Links. That’s the village I grew up in from the age of five.

‘My parents grew up in council schemes in Glasgow. I’m not from the Surrey stockbroker belt.’
