Tragedy as man’s body is found in reservoir
A BODY has been recovered from Threipmuir Reservoir outside Edinburgh, where a man was seen getting into difficulties last week, police confirmed yesterday.
A search had been going on since the alarm was raised on Wednesday evening, involving reports of a man falling off a dinghy in the Pentland Hills beauty spot, near Balerno.
It was reported the missing man had been with around six male friends during fine weather when he went missing.
Last night, a spokesman for Police Scotland said: ‘Officers in Edinburgh can confirm that a body has been found in the Threipmuir Reservoir following a recovery operation, after a man was seen getting into difficulties in the water around 5.35pm on Wednesday, July 14.’
The spokesman said formal identification is yet to take place, but the family of the man, who have asked for privacy, have been made aware.
He added: ‘There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.’
