HONEY I SHRUNK THE STAR: KAREN’S 4IN MINI ME

- By Ashlie McAnally

THE things you have to do in the name of fame. One minute you’re on the red carpet, schmoozing fellow A-listers, the next you’re, er, promoting a poseable action figure.

Karen Gillan, 33, one of Scotland’s most bankable actresses, was last week showing off the 4in model of her as ‘Sam’ in new movie Gunpowder Milkshake.

It’s not the first time Gillan has been the muse for a model. Collectors can already buy action figures of her as Amy Pond from BBC sci-fi series Dr Who, as well as in character as Nebula, a humanoid alien from Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy films.

Gunpowder Milkshake is available on Netflix US ahead of it hitting the big screen this year. In the action thriller, Gillan, who grew up in Inverness, plays Sam, a young assassin who must team up with her mother, Game of Thrones star Lena Headey, as they try to save a young girl.

On the day of the film’s Netflix release last week, Gillan posted a picture of herself on Instagram holding the new action figure in its packaging. She said: ‘Meet doll Sam. Meet the real Sam on Netflix US right now!’

Not exactly Shakespearean, Karen, but just keep thinking of the pay cheque...
