Lady Bird (2017) BBC1, 10.30pm

Written and directed by Greta Gerwig, this coming-of-age comedy drama stars Saoirse Ronan (above) as the title character, a teenager desperate to swap small-town California for a big-city university. Sadly, her life is in turmoil due in no small part to a strained relationship with her mother (Laurie Metcalf).
