1936 Berlin gold medal

One of four gold medals awarded to the black American sprinter Jesse Owens in the 1936 Berlin Olympics. The games had been advertised as a showcase for the white Aryan race by Adolf Hitler. This record price was reached in 2013.

1896 Athens Breal’s silver cup

Awarded to Spyros Louis, winner of the marathon. This 6in silver cup was presented at the first modern Olympic Games. Sold in 2012.

2008 Beijing commemorat­ive coin

Solid gold and weighing 22lbs, it was officially a 100,000 yuan (about £10,000) coin and was one of only 29 made.

Sold in 2011.

1952 Helsinki torch

One of only 15 silver torches made for the Games. This torch came with its original lighter. Sold in 2015.
