And the UK’s cultural gem is... Farnham

-

FORGET Edinburgh, home to the world famous festival, or London with its West End theatres, the UK’s top cultural centre is . . . Farnham.

For while there may be no major galleries or museums, a study claims that the Surrey town, population 40,000, offers more cultural experiences per head of population than any other town or city in the UK – with Edinburgh in ninth and London way down in 31st place.

Farnham, home to Music in the Meadow, the Cider and Sausage Festival and the Allotment Show, pipped Chichester to the top honour, with Winchester in third.

Manchester came tenth in the survey by DIYS.com.
