RUGBY LEAGUE: World Cup organisers are expected to make a decision next week about the viability of the tournament without Australia and New Zealand.

The World Cup has been backed by the UK government by around £25million and is due to be held in England in October and November. But the two top-ranked nations pulled out on Thursday, citing concerns about player welfare amid rising numbers of Covid-19 cases in the UK.

DARTS: Scotland’s Peter Wright will face Belgian Dimitri Van den Bergh in tonight’s World Matchplay final after defeating Dutchman Michael van Gerwen 17-10 in the semi-final.
