Sturgeon jazz wants us all to get jab and back to normal...

-

SPORTING a gold trilby, matching mirrored shades and a saxophone, Nicola Sturgeon found reason to smile yesterday – as she declared Scotland was in ‘a better position’ to return to normal.

The First Minister appeared in good spirits at the opening of the Govanhill Carnival in Glasgow, which she said was the biggest crowd she had been part of since the outbreak began . But even in her somewhat comical attire, she made a serious point about getting the vaccine as she addressed crowds in Queen’s Park, in the south side of the city.

She said: ‘It is so amazing to be amongst people again. This is probably the biggest crowd I’ve been in for almost two years and I am sure that is true of many here. So it is such a joy to be with people in the flesh again.’

And to cheers she added: ‘If you indulge me with my serious head on for just one more moment, if you are not vaccinated yet, get vaccinated as soon as possible and help us all get back to doing all of the normal things that we all want to do.’

Writing on Twitter earlier, Ms Sturgeon said while the pandemic is not over ‘we are in a much better position than we might have believed possible at the start of the summer’.

The Govanhill International Festival and Carnival is described as an antidote to racism towards migrant communities from Eastern Europe in the local area.
