Red alert! Squirrel goes nuts in hunt for food
AS one of Britain’s most endangered species, catching sight of a red squirrel can be a rare treat.
Yet one British photographer was doubly lucky, when he captured the elusive creature defying gravity. Zookeeper and wildlife photographer Julian Terreros-Martin, 24, from Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, snapped the squirrel flying through the air in Blairgowrie, Perthshire.
Mr Terreros-Martin said: ‘The squirrels leap from one platform to another in order to get some hazelnuts which provides an opportunity to get some in-air shots.’
It’s thought there are between 120,000 and 160,000 reds left, three-quarters of them in Scotland.
