SKATER GIRL SKY ON A HIGH AFTER MEDAL

SO, today sees the closing ceremony of the Olympics. Despite the low-key build up, Britain has really got behind the Games. Every Olympics, there’s a breakout star and, without doubt, the Team GB athlete who grabbed the nation’s attention in Tokyo was skateboarder Sky Brown.

What a talent – gaining a bronze medal at just 13 years of age, clearly in love with her sport and happy to drink in the whole Olympic experience.

In her interview with the BBC, she shone – smiling and laughing and predicting she might even compete in the surfing as well as skateboarding at the next Olympics in Paris. Who’d bet against her? I will miss the little boost that waking up each day to news of another medal or qualification seemed to give. Roll on Paris.
