‘Before I found sprinting I was “Jonnie Peacock, disabled”. After, I was “Jonnie Peacock, athlete”,’ declares the multiplemedal-winning Paralympian as he presents this two-part series in the run-up to the Tokyo 2020 Games.

Determined to give others the same opportunities he had, Peacock has taken on five young amputees (among them Maisie, right), who have been trained and equipped with state-of-the-art prosthetic blades to help them attain their sporting goals.

As we meet them in this week’s first episode, they reveal themselves to be remarkable, inspiring individuals who make light of the devastating effects of accidents and disease that have led to them losing limbs. Peacock proves himself to be an adept teacher, too, and it’s impossible not to be moved as the athletes progress.
