Kurupting The Industry: The People Just Do Nothing Story
BBC1, 10.35pm
It began when a few friends in Brentford recorded home-made videos for their own amusement. But after they went on YouTube, the clips of life at pirate radio station Kurupt FM gained a cult following, and eventually became the Bafta-winning BBC show People Just Do Nothing.
Now, as the guys – including Dan Sylvester, Allan Mustafa and Hugh Chegwin, from left – enjoy even greater success with the release of the film People Just Do Nothing: Big In Japan, they look back on how far they’ve come, in between clips from the mockumentary series that has become the This Is Spinal Tap for the hip-hop generation.
Martin Freeman is among the celebrity fans, while Ed Sheeran and Craig David also feature in the uncannily accurate spoof of the pirate radio scene.
