It made my blood boil to read that Samantha Cameron used the furlough scheme to pay wages at her designer clothing label Cefinn during the pandemic, despite having nearly £600,000 in the bank. Meanwhile, she was pictured drinking champagne at Goodwood. Shame on her for living the life of Riley on taxpayers’ money.

Capital of £600,000 is nothing when you don’t know how long you’ll need to sustain a business. It could have been that after three months, the company was wiped out, so furlough would have been totally acceptable. Plus fashion companies are usually among the most financially unstable because luxury items are prone to economic trends.
