You little beauty, Beau!

George Osborne shows off his new baby boy at ‘Downton Abbey’ society wedding

- By Charlotte Griffiths DIARY EDITOR

FOR his public debut, little Beau Osborne could hardly have asked for a more spectacular setting.

George Osborne’s baby boy was introduced to the world – and high society – at a wedding in the grounds of Highclere Castle, known to most as the fictional Downton Abbey.

The marriage of the Honourable Harry Herbert and Clodagh McKenna unusually brought together the worlds of celebrity, aristocracy and racing.

The bride, resident chef on This Morning, looked resplendent in a lace dress with a V-neckline, while Harry – a good friend of the Queen – looked dapper in his morning suit.

But month-old Beau was the star attraction in the congregation as he sat with his mother Thea Rogers, the former Chancellor’s fiancee.

Mr Osborne, 50, has two grown-up children by his ex-wife Frances, but showed he hasn’t lost the newborn knack as he cradled his new son.

Beau, sporting a full head of thick, brown hair, was swaddled in a blue cashmere blanket, with a matching cardigan and Breton-striped socks.

Highclere Castle is home to Harry’s older brother the Earl of Carnarvon, and the family have lived there since the late 17th Century. The newlyweds have a substantial cottage in the grounds, and guests relaxed there after the nuptials for drinks and canapes in its walled garden.

Harry, 62, met Irish-born Clodagh, 47, in 2017 after he split from his wife Francesca Bevan.

His three grown-up children – Chloe, Francesca and William – were in attendance alongside the bride and groom’s beloved dogs Alfie and Nolly, who escorted them out of St Michael & All Angels Church on the estate.

When the couple became engaged last year, Clodagh said she was ‘over the moon with happiness’, while Harry described himself as ‘the luckiest man alive’.

Harry is well-known in the world of thoroughbred racing as the chief executive of Highclere Thoroughbred Racing and of The Royal Ascot Racing Club.

About 150 guests were at the wedding in Hampshire, including the Duke and Duchess of Richmond, impresario Andrew Lloyd Webber and his wife Madeleine, actors Richard E. Grant and Imelda May, society jeweller Theo Fennell, and Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales.

Clodagh’s fellow ITV stars Laura Whitmore and her husband Ian Stirling were there too – helpfully, yesterday was their day off from recording Love Island.
