SCOTLAND’S

-

ferries are a lifeline for island communities. But islanders have the right to feel like an afterthought, given the way the Government has handled the programme. With two new ferries running years late and millions of pounds over budget, Ministers are renting an emergency relief vessel from the Isle of Man for more than £11,000 per day to cover for breakdowns. We’ve now found out that a ferry resilience fund worth millions of pounds has been ‘repurposed’ by the SNP Government. Lord knows what they’ve spent it on, but, whatever it is, it will be cold comfort to those without goods or passage to the mainland after yet another breakdown. Pathetic.
