NOMADS PERFECT PREPARATION FOR ALASHKERT

- MARK WALKER

ALASHKERT manager Alexander Grigoryan reckons playing Welsh minnows Connah’s Quay Nomads was the perfect preparation for facing Rangers this week.

And he’s warned Steven Gerrard they will relish being huge underdogs when they travel to Ibrox and attempt to make history by becoming the first Armenian side to reach the group stage of the Europa League. Rangers must beat the Yerevan-based side in the play-off round to get into the Europa League but Grigoryan said: ‘We already know about the British style because we had a very close game against Connah’s Quay Nomads. They also had a famous player as a manager — Andy Morrison was once the captain of Manchester City. We expect a similar style of football from Rangers.’
