30-year wait to find out beach lovely

-

A POSTCARD from Chile has reached its intended recipient – 30 years after being posted. Neil Crocker sent the card to his father-in-law in the 1990s on his way home from serving in the Falkland Islands with the Royal Navy. Both men were confused when the card dropped onto the doormat last week, three decades late and bearing a postmark showing it reached the UK in 1991. Next to the 22p of stamps, there are a number of pin holes so Mr Crocker has mused on whether it was pinned to a board in a sorting office somewhere, though admitted: ‘It’s a mystery.’ For interest, the card confirms that the beaches and weather in Chile at the time were lovely.
