Confused on shielding? Me too!

LAST week I asked you to write in and tell me if your GP has advised you to shield again – following a worrying letter from a reader, who told of exactly this. Judging by your responses, it would seem he isn’t the only one. I was interested to learn that the chief medical officer for Wales, Dr Frank Atherton, has written to all former shielders in Wales, stating that doctors may continue to tell patients to shield. Most of you seem frustrated with confusing advice: you’re told not to ‘shield’, but stay at home as much as possible, and avoid doing all the things you’ve been longing to return to for months.

I plan to look into what’s going on – and what truly is the best advice for these patients.
