Britannia
Sky Atlantic, 9pm
We’re back in the wild, barbaric land that was ancient Britain as the drama penned by Jez Butterworth returns for a third series after a delay due to the pandemic.
On the Roman side of the conflict, Aulus (David Morrissey, right) is shown to be far more evil than we’d imagined him after a shocking revelation. And there’s a new star in town – the imperious Sophie Okonedo as Aulus’s wife Hemple, newly arrived from Rome and soon establishing herself as even more terrifying than her husband.
We can also welcome the return of Mackenzie Crook as the druid Veran – who just escaped with his life at the end of series two – while it seems the future of the native people rests on the shoulders of young Cait (Eleanor Worthington-Cox), the ‘Chosen One’, as the eight-part story begins. All episodes are immediately available on catch-up.
