Build it better

Peter Hitchens’ reflections on education are pertinent in an era of grade inflation and degree dilution.

If we take the analogy of house building, at the primary stage, the foundations of literacy and numeracy must be established. At the secondary stage, different subjects form the different rooms and, at employment, the roof is put on to ensure completion.

Sadly, our current educational programme has all the design faults of a jerry-built project.
