HIGHLANDERS ARE HAPPY

-

INVERNESS maintained their 100-per-cent start to the season as Sean McGinty’s second-half own goal gave Billy Dodds’ side a home success over Ayr United.

Tom Walsh, who returned to the Highlands this summer after a spell with yesterday’s opponents, put pressure on McGinty and forced the only goal to give the hosts a third successive 1-0 victory in the Championship.

Partick Thistle’s winning start to the season was brought to an abrupt halt when they lost 3-1 at Arbroath. A Colin Hamilton own goal had given the Jags the lead but the home side came roaring back with a Michael McKenna double and Nicky Low’s clincher.

Queen of the South claimed their first points with a 3-2 win at Morton, goals from Ali Roy, Kyle Jacobs (og) and Ruben Soares Jnr enough to edge out the hosts, who scored through Jacobs and a Solomon Brynn own goal.
