Here’s Jonny... as the drug-addicted sleuth
Jonny Lee Miller (pictured, right, with Lucy Liu) is excellent as a nervy, eccentric Sherlock Holmes in this entertaining and inventive contemporary take on the Arthur Conan Doyle stories. Recovering addict Holmes lives in Manhattan where he assists the police in solving crimes, aided and abetted by his ‘sober companion’, Dr Joan Watson (Liu). The series was somewhat overshadowed by the BBC’s Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch, which debuted at around the same time, but Holmes enthusiasts might well feel this is, at the very least, its equal.
