Davina’s right to tackle a taboo

-

Well done to TV presenter Davina McCall (pictured left), who has trademarked the word ‘menopausing’ ahead of the release of her book on the subject. It’s about time someone tackled this topic and got it noticed. Hopefully this means more research will be done into how to combat the side effects.

It looks as if Davina is jumping on the bandwagon here. The menopause is a natural occurrence that I and many millions of women have dealt with over the years. While it’s not pleasant, there is help if you require it, so there is no need to resort to expensive items such as the scented candles and kitchenware that Davina plans to supply us with to make it all better.

Watching my mother go through the menopause was both upsetting and degrading, so if products do appear as a result of Davina’s trademarking, they’re going to be closely linked to the subject matter and, in turn, will probably help the recipient.

Davina says the menopause is a taboo subject. Is that really the case? I’ve been through it and spoke openly about my symptoms at the time. My GP was supportive and understood the problems with it.
