ATHLETICS: Elaine Thompson-Herah has continued her blistering form in the 100-metre women’s sprinting division after posting the quickest time for a Diamond League meeting in Paris yesterday.
The Jamaican won her semi-final heat in a time of 10.72seconds. The Olympic gold medallist from Tokyo has posted a series of fast times this season and is inching closer to breaking the world record of 10.49secs set by American Florence Griffith-Joyner back in 1988. In the same semi-final, Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith finished third as she returns to form after struggling with niggling injuries in Tokyo a few weeks ago.
Thompson-Herah, who ran 10.54secs last week in Oregon enjoys a great rivalry with Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, who also hails from Jamaica.
