McCall hails ‘irresistible’ Jags as Ton torn apart

- By Lindsay Herron

IAN McCALL described his rampant Jags as irresistible as they tore Morton apart to move second in the table.

Stand-in centre back Kevin Holt and strikers Zak Rudden and Brian Graham all scored in an easy victory — but Partick Thistle could have won by twice as many.

McCall said: ‘We look irresistible going forward, we really do. It was a good day for us.

‘For this level of football, we have genuine pace. It was 3-0 but it could have been more.’

Holt gave them the lead with a great header from a Kyle Turner corner in eight minutes.

Rudden and Graham both shot over the bar from good areas just before half-time, while Scott Tiffoney also came close.

However, the strikers got their act together after the break to seal a win that was thoroughly deserved.

Tiffoney brilliantly set up Rudden in 47 minutes with a lovely ball in from the let and he slammed a volley past Jack Hamilton.

Then Turner delivered again with a sweet corner from the left eight minutes later and Graham placed a great header into the left corner.

He might have scored again near the end and subs Cammy Smith and Jake Hastie also had chances.

Morton boss Gus MacPherson, who revealed he’s signing striker Gavin Reilly from Livingston, admitted his side was well beaten.

He said: ‘We were very poor. We lost two goals from set-pieces.

‘We shot ourselves in the foot and we were punished heavily.’
