Mail Online top news site in UK

THE Mail on Sunday’s sister news operation, Mail Online, is Britain’s most-read newspaper brand on the web.

In fact, new data that puts it in top spot indicates that readers spend almost as much time with Mail Online than with its three main rivals combined.

The figures, from new official industry audience data provider Ipsos Iris, show that users spent 1.7billion minutes with the Mail Online brand in the UK in July.

Users of the Guardian news website spent 909million minutes on it, the Sun 688million minutes and the Mirror 417 million minutes.

On average, readers also stuck with Mail Online for longer when they visited.

Mail Online’s average ‘dwell time’ per month was 75 minutes, compared with 48 minutes on the Guardian, 27 minutes on the Sun and 16 on the Mirror.

These figures cover apps, Apple News and all related brand domains.

The numbers for newspaper websites only show that 964million minutes were spent on Mail Online, 422million with the Sun and 378 million with the Guardian.
