A TRAINEE solicitor plunged to her death from cliffs at a beauty spot just days after celebrating her marriage with family and friends.

Fawziyah Javed, who was thought to be pregnant, fell from Edinburgh landmark Arthur’s Seat on Thursday night.

Days earlier, she had celebrated her delayed wedding reception near her home in West Yorkshire with loved ones before travelling to Scotland for a holiday.

Her husband, whom she married in December, is due to appear in court this week after being charged in connection with her death.

Emergency services attended Holyrood Park in the capital at around 9pm on Thursday but were unable to save Ms Javed, who would have celebrated her 32nd birthday yesterday.

Yesterday, a police van guarded the couple’s home in Pudsey, West Yorkshire, following a search by officers on Friday afternoon.

Last night, Police Scotland confirmed they are treating the death as ‘suspicious’ and a 27-year-old man had been arrested and charged.

Last night, grieving relative Zareef Zaf Latif posted on social media: ‘Fawziyah, our precious niece taken away from us way too soon. Have so many memories of you as a little girl. I hope the angels take care of you until we meet again.’

Ms Javed, a trainee at Lyons Davidson Solicitors, in Leeds, was keenly involved in charity work.

Yesterday, homeless charity InTouch Foundation, for whom Ms Javed had volunteered in Bradford and Leeds since 2015, described her as a ‘genuine and kind-hearted person who was liked by both volunteers and our service users’.

Spokesman Osman Gondal added: ‘Her passion to help those in need was evident from the start. We are shocked to hear about the loss and tragic circumstances, our prayers are with her family during this difficult time.’

A neighbour outside Ms Javed’s home yesterday broke down as she described her as a ‘beautiful person’. Naseem Akhtar said: ‘I am very upset. She had lived here for nine to ten months.’

Police said: ‘We received a report that a woman had fallen from Arthur’s Seat, Edinburgh, around 9pm on Thursday. Emergency services attended including the fire service and ambulance. The 31year-old woman died at the scene a short time later and her death is being treated as suspicious. A man has been charged in connection with the suspicious death.’

A 27-year-old man is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court tomorrow.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a man has been charged following the death of a woman whose body was found in a vehicle in Fife.

Police were called to Cable Road in Glenrothes on August 9 where the body of Jane Fitzpatrick, 48, was discovered in a car.

On Friday, Police Scotland said a 35-year-old man had been arrested in connection with her death.

He has now been charged and is due to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court tomorrow.
