85 drinks later, Craig’s Bond is on £920m mission

- By Scarlet Howes

DANIEL CRAIG’S final James Bond film could see him outgun Sean Connery as the most successful 007 star for box-office takings.

Craig, 53, already holds the record as the Bond who had the most drinks and drove the most miles, but he will also take the crown as the highest-grossing 007 if No Time To Die rakes in £920million or more after it is released this month. Conbe nery, the original Bond, played the spy in six official 007 films in the 1960s and 1970s which grossed £3.57billion at the box office when adjusted for inflation. Craig, who has played 007 in four movies since 2005, has netted £2.65billion so far.

Producers are hoping that this could eclipsed by No Time To Die – Craig’s final outing as 007 – which is being seen as the first major release since the pandemic forced audiences to stay away from cinemas. The movie has its premiere on September 28.

But even if the box-office record eludes him, Craig has surpassed fellow Bond actors in other areas.

He drank the most alcohol on screen and has travelled the furthest, according to analysis by The Times of all 24 Bond films made by the production company Eon, which owns the rights to the franchise.

He has clocked up 71,064 miles as Bond so far – 739 more than Roger Moore – and he has downed 85 units of alcohol, two more than Moore.

Craig also holds a more unfortunate record – four of his seven love interests have ended up dead.
