Mercy that honours dad
THE killer of US presidential hopeful Robert F Kennedy could be released from jail following entreaties from the dead politician’s children.
Palestinian-born Sirhan Sirhan shot the runaway favourite for the 1968 presidency in a hotel kitchen following a campaign speech.
Now 77, Sirhan has spent 53 years in prison and this is the 16th time his case has come before a parole board. Two of Bobby Kennedy’s children wrote requesting leniency – son Doug saying: ‘Any prisoner who is found not to be a threat to themselves or the world should be released.’
It’s the sort of statement his father would have endorsed.
