Forensic favourites are back with series 24

When it began back in 1996, nobody expected Silent Witness to run for the next quarter of a century. This week, the 24th run of the crime drama about forensic pathologists begins on BBC1, minus Liz Carr and the Lyell Centre chief (Richard Lintern, killed off).

But all 23 of the previous series are now streaming – including the first eight, led by Amanda Burton as Sam Ryan. Current star Emilia Fox (above) overlapped with her for one series before becoming the show’s mainstay. BBC iPlayer, available now
