Grenfell: The Untold Story
Channel 4, 10pm
Britain has still to come to terms with the shocking horror of June 14, 2017, when 72 people died inside Grenfell Tower in West London in the worst fire the country had seen since the Second World War.
With the inquiry still ongoing more than four years on, this documentary sheds unsettling new light on what happened in the lead-up to the disaster.
Constantine Gras was artist-in-residence at the block for years beforehand. As part of his work he caught on camera the fears that members of Grenfell’s residents’ group (right) repeatedly raised as work was carried out on a £10 million refurbishment that included the deadly, combustible cladding.
With Gras’s valuable footage airing the warnings that were to go unheeded, there’s a growing sense of fury and helplessness as the tragedy looms.
