HOW THEY RATED

- By Calum Crowe

CRAIG GORDON 6.5 Was never likely to have an overly busy night. Saved a couple of longrange efforts. Recalled as No 1 after Euros and will surely keep his place.

JACK HENDRY 7 Clinched an £8.5m move to Belgian champions Brugge earlier this week and capped it with an impressive performance. Used the ball well.

GRANT HANLEY 7 Showed excellent poise and composure as the central anchor in the back three. Mopped up any danger that came his way.

KIERAN TIERNEY 6.5 Fluffed his lines with a header from close range when he had a great chance to make it 2-0. But looked better than he did in Copenhagen.

NATHAN PATTERSON 7.5 Brilliant desire and anticipation to win the ball and create the goal. Clearly a significant attacking upgrade on Stephen O’Donnell.

JOHN McGINN 7 Was a huge loss in Copenhagen but returned with typical drive and energy in midfield. Only thing missing was a customary goal.

BILLY GILMOUR 7.5 His brain just operates two or three passes ahead of everyone else on the pitch. Set the tempo with some sharp passing in central midfield.

RYAN CHRISTIE 7 Much of his best work came with his pressing to help Scotland win the ball high up the pitch. Offers so much energy to the team.

6.5 ANDY ROBERTSON Skipper won his 50th cap and marked it with a victory. Made a couple of terrific runs down the left but end product was poor.

6 KEVIN NISBET Was involved in the build-up to the goal but never really got into the game thereafter. Big chance to start but not his best night.

6.5 LYNDON DYKES Showed good instincts to follow in at the back post and slot home for 1-0. But he’s still hugely frustrating at times. Too many sloppy touches. SUBSTITUTES
