Police hunt hit-and-run driver who killed teen
A TEENAGER was killed when a car ploughed into him then sped away early yesterday.
The 18-year-old was walking in Glasgow’s West End shortly after midnight when a driver knocked him down and left him dying in the street with catastrophic injuries.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Crow Road and the teenager was taken to hospital but could not be saved. Police have launched an investigation, urging any witnesses or motorists with dash-cam footage of the incident to come forward.
They appealed to the driver of the car – believed to be a Mercedes A-Class – to ‘do the right thing’.
Sergeant Scott Sutherland said: ‘The vehicle may have some damage and appears to have lost the Mercedes badge from its bonnet. I would appeal directly to the driver: do the right thing and contact us as a matter of urgency.’
