HEALTH HACKS Drinking coffee supports liver health
PEOPLE who regularly drink coffee may have a reduced risk of liver disease.
The same effect is seen in those who drink regular and decaf coffee, ground or instant, a study carried out by the University of Southampton suggests.
Researchers analysed UK Biobank data from 384,818 coffee drinkers and 109,767 people who didn’t drink it. Compared to non-coffee drinkers, coffee-drinkers had a 21 per cent reduced risk of chronic liver disease, a 20 per cent reduced risk of chronic or fatty liver disease, and a 49 per cent reduced risk of death from chronic liver disease.
