RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2021

It’s been a long wait for lovers of gardening, but after the cancellation of last year’s Chelsea Flower Show and this year’s postponement, here it is at last.

Taking place in the autumn for the first time since the Royal Horticultural Society first welcomed visitors to the Royal Chelsea Hospital in 1913, we can look forward to seeing some seasonal plants making their debut at the show.

Joe Swift and Sophie Raworth are joined by The Repair Shop’s Jay Blades for an opening look at the floral delights and plant trends that will greet visitors. That’s just the first of 14 programmes from the show across the week (with Monty Don joining Swift and Raworth, right, later in the week), continuing every afternoon on Monday (BBC1, 3.45pm), before the Chelsea medal-winners are revealed in the evening (BBC2, 7pm). ★★★★★
