FANTASTIC FOUR FOR RED-HOT ARBROATH

-

TEN-MAN Arbroath picked up their fourth successive victory in the Championship after recording a 2-0 win away to Queen of the South.

Dick Campbell’s part-time side sit third in the division, four points clear of Partick Thistle in fourth.

Arbroath, the top scorers in the division with 14 goals in six games, took an early lead through Thomas O’Brien on 16 minutes.

David Gold was sent off for the visitors 12 minutes after the break but the strong team spirit that embodies Campbell’s side won through yet again.

Jon Nouble put the game beyond Queen of the South by adding a second goal with 11 minutes remaining.

Inverness Caley Thistle stay top of the league despite dropping their first points of the season at bottom-club Dunfermline.

Billy Dodds’ side had won their first five fixtures but were held 0-0 by the Pars, whose German owners came out in support of under-fire boss Peter Grant on Friday.

The Pars are two points adrift of Hamilton, who lost 2-0 at home to Ayr United.

The hosts had chances early on but the visitors dominated the second half to claim all three points in Lanarkshire.

Interim Ayr boss Jim Duffy has now won all three games he has been in charge since David Hopkin was dismissed earlier this month.

Steven Bradley, on loan from Hibernian, and Tomi Adeloye scored the goals for the Ayrshire side.

Elsewhere, Dario Zanatta’s 33rd-minute effort was enough for Raith Rovers to win 1-0 away Gus MacPherson’s Morton.
